I worked in a ten-million-dollar clothing store. We were a big brand(7.8 billion Market Cap, March 15, 2021). We were often the number 1 store in volume. We were a top 5 profitable store. We premiered one of the most profitable items sold in 2020. I had met the CEO, a billionaire, on a handful of occasions.
This is to say, I loved my job and the atmosphere of creating extraordinary results. It is was what it must feel like to be on a championship team, and be a perennial winner.
Yet, once quarantine hit the country, our state, and our store. I locked away indoors away from the team. In my heart, I could not wait around for the store to re-open. I logged onto Google.com and began to look at resources on how to teach myself to code.
Some of my favorite resources I have listed here in this article.
Once we returned however it became a back-burner activity, something I did in the morning's or on weekends when I had the free time. This was not enough for me. I soon wanted to do it more and more, and despite great co-workers whom I adore. As the new year started I decided to find a way to do it full-time. This led me to a few different options. Going back to a traditional college, continue self-learning, or boot camps. Colleges were too expensive and too time-consuming, self-learning was too cheap and too unfocused. I needed a Bootcamp.
I began applying and interviewing at places. Looking for one that would fit my needs. I settled on Thinkful. A Bootcamp immersive program that would provide a 9-5 structure, had fantastic reviews, and promised to land me a job at the end.
This blog is a place for me to share why, how, and what I learn through the data analytics program and classes. I gain knowledge but I learn best when I write and give my own spin on things. When I write it is for myself, and primarily to help others that may follow a similar path.
I produce a weekly email, about all things data, Excel, SQL, Python, that takes five minutes to read. I'd love to have you join, unsubscribe whenever you want.
